Artist Profile
Ed began his passion for art and painting as a child. After studying art at school, he went on to study at Charpentier Academie in Paris, Chelsea Art School in London and Fine Art at Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art.
He creates portraits and landscapes and is a keen lover of nature. His works span acrylic paint, oil, charcoal and pencil but he is foremost a painter and prefer to work in acrylics. He chooses subjects that lift the soul, are life affirming and hopefully bring joy to the viewer. His compositions are often unusual, deliberately non-traditional and complex in their form and structure.

His painting style explores the gap between realism and the innate beauty of the medium he is working with. For him acrylic paint delivers the intensity, immediacy and saturation of colour to bring a heightened sense of realism. My flower paintings exploit this hyperrealism and explore in detail the beauty of nature. Not as an impressionistic view from a distance but as a more detailed analytical study of shape, line, colour, light and shade. It's about creating impact, something that will strike you from afar but also draw you in for a closer look.
He has always been an animal lover and this has found its way into his art at all stages of his career. He has created commission based animal portraits from the age of 18. But his passion for people and landscapes also always finds its way into his work.
